How to Use Bailey Bear in the Toddler Bedroom
Bailey Bear is the newest, most huggable addition to the Conscious Discipline family. Bailey Bear provides a way for young and nonverbal children to ask for the love, connection and support they require to thrive.
Bailey’s attached backpack contains 21 fabric pieces that depict Feeling Buddy feelings, I Love You Rituals and calming activities. Children select a fabric piece and Velcro it in place on Bailey’s tummy to indicate their need or feeling. They can then seek comfort or conduct the chosen activity with a peer, with an adult or with Bailey Bear himself.
When she was 18 months old, Sophie would toddle up to Shubert and flop Bailey into his lap over and over again to ask him to connect through the “Twinkle, Twinkle” I Love You Ritual. Now that she’s three, Sophie often uses Bailey to ask for comfort from Mom or Dad, like when she’s feeling scared during a thunderstorm. And Shubert delights in teaching baby Annabelle to use Bailey, but right now Annabelle mostly enjoys throwing the fabric pieces around like confetti.
