Sue Dierks has over 25 years of experience in the field of early childhood education that includes classroom teaching, parent engagement, teacher coaching and training as well as program administration. Sue’s thesis work explored resiliency in Head Start preschoolers and that interest in resiliency continues today through her work with Conscious Discipline.

Sue’s strengths are system integration, technical trainings, individual coaching for both teachers and parents, and meshing Conscious Discipline with Head Start monitoring systems and outcomes.

Sue has an encouraging style that supports staff and parents through the journey of implementing Conscious Discipline. Sue’s knowledge and experience includes the Conscious Discipline Parent Education Curriculum, the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment System, The Creative Curriculum, and the Head Start Program Performance Standards.



    Sue has over 25 years of experience in early childhood education that includes classroom teaching, family engagement, teacher coaching and training, in addition to program administration. Sue has experience as a home visitor, classroom teacher, site supervisor, education manager and, most recently, Head Start director.


    Sue specializes in inspiring teachers, family engagement staff, and parents to understand how Conscious Discipline connects to their respective roles. Sue’s knowledge and experience provides a practical implementation of integrating Conscious Discipline with school policy, monitoring systems and outcomes, while supporting staff and parents through the implementation journey.


    Sue is a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor.


    Sue earned a Master of Arts in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College.
