Kristin Chesterman is a certified elementary teacher, instructional coach, and trauma-informed specialist with 28+ years of experience who believes all learning is social, emotional, and relational. Kristin’s Conscious Discipline journey began when she was exposed to the idea that “all behavior is a form of communication” at a workshop in 2018. From that moment on, “the lens in which I viewed humans, and their behaviors entirely shifted. Every interaction that I had in both my personal and professional worlds became a practice of seeing behaviors differently, beginning with my own; sending me on a never-ending journey to learn more.”

Kristin holds a B.S. Elementary Education from Ball State University and an M.Ed. from Indiana Wesleyan University.  In addition, she has earned an Applied Educational Neuroscience certificate from Butler University (2023) and a Trauma Informed Specialist certificate (2024) to support her commitment and dedication to her profession.  During her 16-year teaching career, Kristin taught every elementary grade level, including ⅔ and ⅘ splits and high-ability clusters. She then transitioned into an instructional coaching role, serving teachers in two different school corporations for the next ten years. She most recently was a Title One Behavioral Support Teacher, supporting staff and scholars in a brain-aligned and Conscious Discipline framework (known as the “Anchor Framework”) that she helped to create.

“My passion,” says Kristin, ” is to teach all humans about emotional intelligence through self-regulation. Bringing awareness to ourselves, learning positive ways to communicate, and utilizing healthy self-regulation strategies has been life changing for me and my family.”  Kristin brings a wealth of experience and decades of passion to the Conscious Discipline family.
