Chrissy’s greatest joy is working with children who don’t “fit in the box,” whether it be academically or behaviorally. This joy has driven her life’s work, including her current devotion to supporting adults, empowering them to see themselves and the students in their care differently, and collaborating to meet their students’ needs through new skills and strategies.

Chrissy has a diverse work history, beginning at a public school in South Bronx, N.Y., continuing as a special educator at a mental health hospital for children with behavioral needs in Rhode Island, returning to public education in a special education behavior program and now serving as a private consultant. She has a Bachelor in Special and Elementary Education, a Masters in Reading, a graduate certificate in Dyslexia Knowledge and Practice, a graduate certificate in Child and Adolescent Trauma, a certification as a Community Resiliency Model teacher from the Trauma Resiliency Institute, and is TEACCH® Level 1 certified.

Before learning about Conscious Discipline, Chrissy relied on the traditional approaches often used in the special education. These early experiences enable her to clearly compare and contrast the fear-based methods she previously utilized with the intrinsic, brain-based and connection-based methodology of Conscious Discipline. As a Certified Instructor, Chrissy excels in supporting others with the acceptance, the understanding, and the mindset and skillset shifts needed to implement Conscious Discipline to fidelity.
