Conscious Discipline was the answer when Jane Plum searched for a program to meet the classroom management and social/emotional curriculum needs at the preschool where she served as director.  Since she made that discovery in 2006, she has been passionate about her personal Conscious Discipline journey.  After watching the many successes in her school, her goal has become sharing Conscious Discipline with others.

Jane taught high school and adult education for 30 years before finding her real calling in early childhood education. She found joy in coming to work each day in a Conscious Discipline School Family and wants to help other educators and parents find that joy. Jane and her husband have 4 children and 6 grandchildren whose stories enrich her workshops.  She finds great joy in training those who live and work with young children—parents, teachers and family care providers.

    Experience

    Jane has 15 years experience in administration as the director of a faith-based pre-school, 18 years in secondary education and 13 years in adult education. In high school she taught early childhood careers in a preschool and in a Head Start setting.

    Specialization

    Jane specializes in preschool, early childhood administration and parent education.

    Certification

    Jane is a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor and has been licensed to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    Education

    Jane earned her B.S. in Management, Housing & Family Development and her M.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise, both from Virginia Tech.
