More About Lynn Young arrow-right

Lynn has spent over three decades as a teacher, trainer, and coach. For 20 years, she taught in an inclusive preschool classroom that she designed to include children with hearing impairments and other developmental disabilities. Home visiting and parent education were an integral part of this program. During her time in the classroom, Lynn was a demonstration teacher for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. She has also served as a cooperating teacher for countless student interns from Meredith College and was a mentor for beginning teachers in the Wake County Public School System in Raleigh, NC.

Lynn’s initial introduction to Conscious Discipline was in the late 90’s while attending a NAECY Conference where she heard about I Love You Rituals. At first, Lynn thought this sounded like a “fluff activity.” However, she was continually aware of Conscious Discipline and its possibilities. In 2008, Lynn got the opportunity to attend a Conscious Discipline Summer Institute (CD1) in Orlando. There, her Conscious Discipline journey truly began, and she never looked back. Lynn worked for the next five years implementing Conscious Discipline in her classroom. Excited by her success, she began to share her knowledge with teachers and parents through trainings and during home visits. During this time, she also practiced at home with her very own teenage son, giving her valuable experience at both ends of the spectrum.

Most recently, Lynn has been a Preschool Coordinating Teacher in Raleigh, NC, supporting preschool Special Education and Title I teachers. She has developed a New Teacher professional development program to provide connection and support as teachers learn vital skills for classroom success. During this time, she has continued to share her Conscious Discipline knowledge with many teachers through trainings, book studies, and classroom coaching. Teachers appreciate Lynn’s experience, gentle guidance, and practical advice. Lynn’s favorite part is the opportunity to support teachers in creating a School Family where children feel safe and loved.
