Christine Garza-Bell has dedicated her 25+ year career to supporting young children and families. Beginning as an early childhood education teacher, her journey progressed as a licensed social worker to include roles such as home visitor, early childhood mental health consultant, play therapist, Early Head Start/Head Start administrator and behavioral health clinician. In her various professional experiences, Christine has been praised for her focus on developing and implementing programs that center on high-quality experiences for young children and their families. “As an infant and early childhood mental health consultant, play therapist, and behavioral health clinician, I offer vital support to our most vulnerable and at-risk young children and their families. I get to do that by collaborating with early childhood programs supporting parenting groups and implementation of the Conscious Discipline Parenting Curriculum.”
Christine completed her graduate work at Indiana University and earned her M.S. in Social Work. Her undergraduate work took place at Purdue University where she earned an associate degree in Early Childhood Education and a B.A. in Psychology. Additionally, she is certified in CLASS® Reliable in Infant/Toddler as well as being a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor.
While Christine’s vast professional responsibilities have deeply benefited from the integration of Conscious Discipline’s approach and practices, it was her journey as a parent that brought her to Conscious Discipline to begin with. The reading of, “Easy to Love, Difficult to Discipline” was the turning point in how she approached discipline with her own child. Christine continues to implement Conscious Discipline as a Certified Instructor, coach, and administrator to shape program development, improve staff retention, and program outcomes.
