To insure this fidelity she has attended and assisted in the week long Summer Institutes every year since 2009. She has also elevated her learning at the week long Advanced Institutes. Over the years she has attended numerous one and two day workshops with Dr. Becky Bailey and the Master Instructors. These comprehensive experiences have advanced her Conscious Discipline knowledge, so that she can bring her workshop participants the most current brain research and CD skills.

Along with her position as a resource teacher for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida, these experiences enable her to understand what educators deal with on a daily basis. Karen HickmanMaster Instructor
Karen Hickman has a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has been in the field of education for over 25 years, including teaching grades 4-6 in public school, operating an in-home preschool program for ten years and teaching as an adjunct professor for the University of Missouri-Columbia. Karen also has background experience as a Certified High/Scope Trainer and a Certified High/Scope Teacher. In 2003, the Central Missouri Association for the Education of Young Children honored Karen with the Outstanding Early Childhood Professional Award.

Kim Hughes is a 30+ year veteran of education with master’s degrees in both Elementary Education and School Leadership/Administration. She was awarded the 1999-2000 North Carolina Teacher of the Year Award. Kim excels in providing engaging, informative events for educators and administrators of children infant through elementary age.
Abbi KruseCertified Instructor
Abbi is the founder and Executive Director of The Playing Field, an early childhood program serving children experiencing homelessness right alongside those from far more advantaged families. Prior to this role, Abbi served in a variety of ECE settings including the University of Wisconsin Preschool Lab, Head Start, and community based programs.
Cathy LancelottaCertified Instructor
Cathy Lancelotta is a Certified Conscious Discipline Instructor and Director of Heritage Preschool at Heritage United Methodist Church in Overland Park, Kansas. Cathy has worked in the field of early childhood for 25 years and has been a Certified Conscious Discipline Instructor since 2006. Cathy holds a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Family Life and Environment from Louisiana State University. She is a member of the ACEI (Association for Child good Education International), NAEYC, Mid-America AEYC as well as the Christian Early Childhood Association of Greater Kansas City.
Nicole LangstonCertified Instructor
Nicole Langston, an educator with over 17 years of experience and mother of four, discovered Conscious Discipline when she first became a principal. Nicole has worked as a Director of Early Childhood, principal, and elementary teacher while also leading Parents as Teachers, Gifted and Talented, Head Start and pregnant and parenting teens. She has an Ed.S in Education Policy and Analysis from the University of Missouri, a M.Ed from William Woods University, and a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Missouri State University.
