How to Use the Celebration Center in the Elementary Age Bedroom
What we focus on, we get more of— so when we focus on our children’s varied accomplishments and successes, we will get more of those accomplishments and successes! A Celebration Board like the one in Shubert’s room allows us to show that we value children’s efforts and unique talents. It celebrates life events, individual achievements, and contributions to the family, school, or community. This year alone, Shubert’s family celebrated him participating in his first science fair, making the soccer team, doing his first load of laundry by himself (from hamper to washer and back into his dresser), scoring all B’s on his report card, and going to his first overnight camp.
The Celebration Board is a place to highlight your child’s accomplishments, whether big or small, traditional or unusual, academic or social, milestone or everyday event. And remember, celebrating isn’t about giving a reward or being the best; it’s about honoring your individual child’s unique abilities.
