Conscious Discipline, the core brand behind the award-winning social-emotional learning and classroom management program by the same name, launches a yearlong 20th anniversary celebration today. Celebrations will span the globe, kicking off at the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) annual conference in
Los Angeles, CA November 2–5. Conscious Discipline unites advances in neuroscience, child development research and psychology to help educators, caregivers and parents respond effectively to children’s behavior in a way that increases self-regulation. The Conscious Discipline Brain State Model is a core component of this transformational discipline approach that is actively taught and practiced in 36 countries and 22 different languages.
“With the tireless efforts of our staff, instructors and dedicated enthusiasts around the world, I can honestly say that these two decades have surpassed my hopes in so many ways,” said Conscious Discipline’s originator, Dr. Becky Bailey. “I feel honored to celebrate 20 years of Conscious Discipline and am confident that the ripple of our efforts will touch untold numbers of schools and families for generations to come.”
The company will be hosting a variety of events this year, including outreach via social media and throwback publications. Stacy Ward, longtime enthusiast, parent, educator and PreK-5 Principal in New York says, “Conscious Discipline has immeasurably influenced my school, creating a culture rich with student and adult connectedness, compassion, self-regulation and positive intent. We are thrilled to be celebrating and honoring the impact of Conscious Discipline these 20 years!”
Over the course of 20 years, Conscious Discipline’s certified trainers have touched more than three million educators and caregivers, ultimately impacting 15.8 million children. The professional development arm of the organization hosts an average of 15 conferences and workshops a year, in addition to presenting at national and regional events. In 2016, their event offering expanded to include nation-wide video simulcasts.
