(NOVEMBER 2021) BATESVILLE PRESCHOOL CELEBRATES “BE A BETTER ME” DAY WITH CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE AND A VISIT FROM THE FAIRY GODMOTHER.
In efforts to bring a bit of extra lightness and joy to their community, Batesville Preschool in Batesville, Arkansas celebrated with Disney costumes, special activities and renewed dedication to Conscious Discipline at their “Be a Better Me” day. Preschool Director Michelle Puckett even dressed as The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella!
“Walt Disney was all about empowering people and thinking outside the box, lifting up one another and encouraging all to be a better person, be a better culture, and to create a better society for all to live,” Puckett said. She believes Conscious Discipline helps her preschool do the same.
“Through Conscious Discipline, we are encouraged to self-reflect, to get more in control of our emotions and feelings and empower ourselves, so we can in turn empower others,” Puckett said.
Batesville Preschool began implementing Conscious Discipline before the pandemic and remained open for all but a few weeks in spring of 2020. This year, several team members attended in-person Conscious Discipline trainings that renewed their passion and enhanced their skillsets.
Puckett says empowering teachers with Conscious Discipline increases their wellbeing which creates a better environment at the preschool. Special days like “Be a Better Me” day foster happiness and celebrate the School Family’s perseverance during trying times.
“COVID has been going on for a long time now and everyone is beginning to get run down,” she said. “My staff has been working extremely hard… they give, give, give, give, and it’s just time to give back to them. So much is done for the kids and the families, which is phenomenal, but staff need a pick-up, too,” Puckett said.
