On-Site CoachingWork side-by-side with a Conscious Discipline Coach to calm an out-of-control child, resolve conflict in seconds, use classroom structures to optimize learning, perfect routines and rituals, strengthen staff relationships, and more with our on-site coaching options. Your expert Coach will guide and encourage you in your next step for Conscious Discipline implementation. Opportunities with our Coaches are endless, and are custom-designed to meet your needs. We currently offer five unique coaching tracks: 1. Model Teaching
The most powerful tool Conscious Discipline offers is in-room support. Model teaching is for teachers who have willingly signed up for assistance, as they are the most likely to benefit from the experience. The teacher completes a short survey about the classroom and children prior to the classroom visit. Then during Model Teaching, the Coach tailors the session to the teacher’s needs and the events of the day. The teacher may work alongside the Coach, receiving instant feedback and guidance, or simply observe the Coach in action. Following the session, the Coach meets with teachers for discussion, questions and additional support. Model teaching also provides the long-term investment of videotaping the Conscious Discipline Coach working with children. This video can become an indispensible learning tool for future staff development. This video footage is helpful for fostering discussion, showing teaching moments, reviewing specific strategies and structures, and observing how different adult responses result in different child behavior. 2. Integrating Conscious Discipline into the Curriculum
Conscious Discipline is not something that happens once a week or during a daily 20-minute exercises; it is integrated throughout the day and within the curriculum. In the integration approach to coaching, our Conscious Discipline Coach works with school leaders to create a natural connection between the school’s existing curriculum and Conscious Discipline. These sessions can be conducted in whole group, small group or through individual time with teachers. As your classroom management system integrates with your curriculum, the lines between discipline and learning become seamless. 3. Grade Level Assistance and Alignment with Standards
The Conscious Discipline Coach meets with grade-level teams of teachers throughout the day, and provides personal assistance for each grade. Participants join in team planning (building a personal plan for the grade level), experiential learning and problem solving activities. Each participant leaves the meeting with an action plan, a sound understanding of his or her part in the plan, and ample training that pairs Conscious Discipline skills with developmentally appropriate practices and differentiated learning. A designated member from each group will assume a leadership position and check with the group to assure the follow-through of objectives. For grade-level meetings, the Conscious Discipline Coach will meet after school and/or during planning times to avoid the need to hire substitutes. The longer the meeting time, the more in-depth the action plan. 4. Administrative Team School-Wide Implementation
The Conscious Discipline Coach works directly with administrators to address unique upper-level concerns like handling faculty conflict, leading faculty meetings the Conscious Discipline way, in school suspension strategies and more. This consultation between the Coach and administrators culminates with the Coach providing a written action plan that includes specific examples and suggestions for the administrative team, and addresses the specific needs of the administrators. The most successful transformations occur in schools with Principals and Directors who commit to running their school with Conscious Discipline Brain Smart management principles. Your Coach will provide impartial advice for effectiveness and efficiency in implementing Conscious Discipline. * This option is only for schools that have implemented Conscious Discipline school-wide and have an existing relationship with a Loving Guidance Associate or Loving Guidance Coach. 5. Needs Assessment and Recommendations
The goal of the Needs Assessment track is to address the teachers’ most pressing needs and make specific recommendations for solutions. The classroom teachers and/or administrators will work with our Coach to clearly identify the ten most important structures, rituals and language items to focus on. The Coach will then create a plan for implementing these top ten priorities in the coming year. The coaching process may include some or all of the following: Classroom Structures
Language of Safety
Rituals
